Mission at FPCE

Mission Committee meets on the Fourth Monday from 7:00pm - 8:30pm in the Church Library

Jesus called them to him, saying “Let the children come to me and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the Kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child, shall not enter it.”

Luke 18:16-17

About Mission Committee:

Our dedicated Service Commission and Mission Commitee members work tirelessly and faithfully to bring the glory of the Kingdom of heavan to those in need. Our church gives generoursly to the PC(USA) connectional missions; General Assembly Unified, Synod Unified and Presbytery Unified Misisons. These mission causes directly influence and support the work of the Presbyterian church near and far.

What We Do:

Community Mission and Ministry has become a major emphasis for our work and support here in and around Everett, Washington. Every week our dedicated volunteers serve meals in unprecedented numbers to the marginalized in society with Dinner at the Bell. Your donations of time, gifts and talents also support our unique programs Toiletries for Dignity and Showers to the People. Our work in the community here and abroad continues through generous support for VOA/Super Bowl, CROP WALK, Interfaith Family Shelter and Mar Elias Education Foundation/Pilgrims of Ibillin in Palestine. Offerings that often do not make front-page news, but are just as dear to our cause are: Christmas Joy, One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost and Peacemaking and Heifer Project.

"Hands-On" Mission trips continue to excite us all (young and old). Previous mission trips include:

 - Making a significant contribution last summer to clearing land under threat from non-native species in Eastern Oregon

- Traveling to Haiti to work with the orphanage HIS Home for Children along with the PC (USA) Haiti Mission Network

Mission News

Your mission committee is pleased to support our Yucatan Mission Team that will be travelling once again to work alongside the people in the Yucatan area.  Each of the team members will be paying part of their expenses, but we as a congregation will also be supporting them financially as well as with our love and prayers.

This is one of the two "hands on" mission work projects that we as a congregation actually participate in;  first is our Dinner at the Bell where we serve the homeless and low income people in our area every Wednesday down in Stocker Hall, and this Mission trip that we offer about once every three years.

The following article will give you a brief introduction to what is being offered in July of 2020.  There is still time to join in.  See either Darcy Cooper, Leslie Sutton or Dottie Villesvik.

The Vision is Clear

Yucatan Mission 2020

Time to pack our bags for another Yucatan Mission Trip, July 17-26, 2020, but this time we will be headed to the beach! We will be working alongside Peninsular Presbytery to build a recreation room on an existing summer camp on the beach, in Chelem Yucatan. We will also be leading a Vacation Bible School for the local church with the assistance of Pastor Antonio Reyes May. We worked with Pastor Antonio on our very first Yucatan Mission Trip in Chumbec…looking forward to working with him again!

The Mission Team has started meeting monthly sharing a meal and planning for the upcoming trip. We are working on various fundraisers along with team building, planning VBS curriculum and activities.

The first fundraiser is coming up…we will be selling Brown Bear Car Wash Tickets for $10. Think about purchasing a ticket as stocking stuffers or just keeping your car clean during those winter months! We will be doing another Yucatan Mission Auction, so mark your calendars for Saturday, May 2nd. This is one event you won’t want to miss out on!

We look forward to sharing more about the upcoming Yucatan Mission Trip with you!

Thank you,

Darcie and the Yucatan Mission Team
